Early carcinoma of the tongue border
The 69 year-old lady was a non-smoker and had a healthy life-style with regular physical activity and balanced diet. In an annual review the dentist noticed a nodule on the left tongue border and referred the patient to the University Department.
Notes: On the left tongue border a well demarcated speckled patch was noted. This area was indurated on palpation. No regional lymph nodes were detected. The patient hat noticed the change on the left tongue border for the first time about three months earlier. An immediate diagnostic incisional biopsy revealed a well differenciated oral squamous cell carcinoma (cT1cN0cM0).
