The floor of the mouth in this 54-year old male patient reveals a classic speckled lesion on the left side with white nodular patches and erythematous areas within the leukoplakia patch. There is no clear demarcation of the whole lesion. The patient is a heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day).
Notes: Considering the patient’s age and smoking history, an incisional biopsy is mandatory. Severe dysplasia was present. The treatment plan drawn was excision of the affected area with a clear margin, and to attempt smoking cessation (but this failed).
